About the book
Los Angeles, this year. A studio of thirty people operates a performer with eleven million followers who does not exist, and a man in Bakersfield has been writing to her for three years, and the studio wants a threat assessment. Nate Cobb's first act is to explain that they have named the wrong subject and that there is no victim, because the person being written to is not a person. And his second is to find the only human being in the matter with anything at stake, whose name is on a contract nobody has read since 2021. His son is three. His wife's book comes out in September. And once, in this volume, he tells the reader something that did not happen and never takes it back.
